SAB Championship in full steam

The competition is the largest football development programme at grassroots level administered by SAB and SAFA, and it went into the next gear as teams continued to battle for a spot in the knockout stages.

First to secure a place in the knockout stage was the Northern Cape, following a narrow 1-0 beating of USSA in a thrilling and opening encounter.

Mpumalanga were next to finish the day at the summit of their group. They posted a convincing 4-1 victory over Eastern Cape.

Wednesday will provide a recess from all the action in the tournament and it will see former soccer greats facilitate in a skills training workshop for at least 250 young players from across the country.

Some of the players that are included are Collen Tlemo and Silver Shabalala who played for AmaZulu, Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards.
