“He apparently went missing after school. Police search led to the river where one of his school shoes was found at the banks of the river. Upon further search the boy’s lifeless body was found trapped on a rock. This follows heavy rains in the area,” he said.

The local police together with fire fighters from Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality Fire successfully retrieved the victim’s lifeless body.

Mbokane appealed to parents to ensure that their kids were safety ferried from schools during this rainy season to prevent similar occurrences.

Police opened an inquest.
