Schools have a shortage of science teachers

MBOMBELA -There is a dire need to increase the number of learners taking maths and science in the province, but the snag is the shortage of teachers.

It’s alleged that maths and science leave the education sector and seek greener pastures.

One of the schools that have a problem is Mathukwane Secondary School in Casteel, Bushbuckridge, which obtained a 19% matric pass rate in 2016. The school does not have a Maths and Physics teacher as one of the key challenges faced by the school.
