Mpumalanga welcomes Russian tour operators

MEC Kholwane interacts with Russian delegates

Mpumalanga welcomed a group of Russian tour operators last night at the Tourism Indaba in Durban.

Welcoming them, MEC for finance, economic development and tourism,  Mr Eric Kholwane said this was the province’s effort to enhance tourism development beyond the African continent.

He also introduced the Swaziland Tourism Authority and the Mozambican tourism authority, both of whom will be in partnership with the province in offering tourism packages that will include travels to Mpumalanga, Swaziland and Mozambique.

Local tour operators who went on a familiarisation tour of Russia recently, will be joining their counterparts on this regional tour. Kholwane indicated that the partnership with Swaziland and Mozambique is for mutual growth as a region in Southern Africa.

“Much as we don’t have the sea, our neighbours Mozambique have it and their unique nightlife. Swaziland has its diverse scenery and unique cultural value, whilst we boast of our unique natural heritage and scenic views, all of which has unique features of their own – a must-see kind of packaging to be worked out by the tour operators to make this partnership work profitably, ” said Kholwane.

Tour operators from Mpumalanga, Swaziland and Mozambique last night attended a networking session at the Maharani Hotel to cut out deals.
