Man arrested for girlfriend’s murder

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend at Ehmke Street in Mbombela, he will appear in court today.

Mpumalanga News learned that a taxi driver who was supposed to ferry the victim to her place of work on Tuesday morning became curious when he tried to call her numerous times with her phone ringing unanswered.

He then alerted the Nelspruit police who immediately went to the scene.

Brig Mtsholi Bhembe confirmed that police responded to the information and went straight to the suspect’s rented flat.

“The police knocked several times at the door with the suspect delaying to open door, he even tried to escape, but the police caught him and went with him inside the flat where the deceased’s body was found wrapped in plastic bags and placed near the wall. We don’t know what his intentions were with the body,” said Bhembe


“The deceased was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

She was apparently beaten with a sharp object on her head,” added Bhembe.

Police arrested the suspect in connection with the murder. He will appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court today.
