Two vehicles worth R200 000 burnt at ANC’s branch chairperson’s home

Bushbuckridge police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after two vehicles worth an estimated value of R200 000 were burnt to ashes.

Captain Ndlovukazi Mashele explained on Tuesday that there was no arrest made in connection with crime which happened in Shatale, Mandela street on Sunday evening.

“The incident happened at the home of an ANC chairperson of Thabakgolo branch, Mr Willy Mokoena. His two vehicles which were parked next to his house, were set alight by unknown persons. The house also suffered visible cracks from the flames. The complainant was not at home at the time of the incident,” explains Mashele.

“The motive for this crime is not yet known. The matter is still under police investigation,” she said.

She added that the local police were also investigating a case of business robbery after 260 cellphones were stolen from Markham’s shop in Bushbuckridge over the weekend.
