Two members of the Executive Council, Speedy Mashilo and Norah Mahlangu swapped their portfolios during a reailigning of the provincial government by the newly elected premier, Ms Refilwe Mtsweni.
Mashilo moved from the department Human Settlements to the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs while Mahlangu was moved from the department of Culture, Sports and Recreation to Human Settlements.
There are also two new members in the cabinet. Former ANC deputy chief whip in the provincial legislature, Mr Sibusiso Malaza was appointed as MEC for Education replacing Ms Reginah Mhaule who is now the deputy minister of International Relations and Cooperation. Former provincial legislature speaker, Ms Thandi Shongwe was also appointed as MEC for Culture, Sports and Recreation.
