NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa said the pair was arrested after the police conducted a joint operation including SANParks in the Acornhoek police cluster.
The suspect will appear in Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court today.
“The vehicle was pulled off the road and upon searching, two rhino horns wrapped in a foil and stashed in the spare wheel compartment were found,” said Sergeant Sedibe.

Her lifeless body was found in the boot of her car parked on the premises. Her mouth was wrapped with bandages and an electric cable was found around her neck.
Their sentencing proceedings were postponed to August 23 following the defence lawyer asking for more consultation time.
According to police, Prince Sifiso Khoza and Bernard Khumalo were arrested when police were patrolling the area.
The escapee was nabbed on Wednesday morning by an off-duty police constable who spotted and cornered him while leaving his hideout.
While Thokozani Malinga was being escorted back to the holding cells, he reportedly fled from the court room.
A probe by police revealed that the suspects, who were wearing balaclavas allegedly gained entry into the court premises by breaking the padlock at the gate.
“An undisclosed amount of cash was then taken by the suspects before fleeing the scene,” explained Brig Leonard Hlathi.
